"Turkish textiles" is not a category, it is five or six cities that make quite different things. Approaching the wrong one wastes a month and produces quotations that look uncompetitive because you asked a towel region for knitwear.
This is the geography half of sourcing from Türkiye instead of Asia. Read it as where to start looking, not as a guarantee — see the caveat at the end, which matters.
| If you are buying | Start with |
|---|---|
| Towels, bathrobes, bed linen — home textiles | Denizli. The region is built around it and the export documentation habits reflect that |
| Woven fabric, technical and automotive textiles | Bursa. Also Türkiye's automotive cluster, which is why the technical end is strong |
| Knitwear, apparel, organic cotton | İzmir and the Aegean, where the cotton is and where a lot of certified-organic capacity sits |
| Machine-made carpets and rugs | Gaziantep, which dominates this category to an unusual degree |
| Apparel manufacturing, denim, finishing | İstanbul and the Marmara belt around Çorlu and Tekirdağ |
| Yarn and spinning | Kahramanmaraş and the southeast |
Three practical consequences:
A region is a starting point, not a credential. There are excellent factories outside their region's specialism and poor ones inside it, and none of this substitutes for verifying the individual supplier — which is its own post and then an inspection firm's job.
These regional reputations are widely reported and consistent across industry sources, but we have not independently audited them, and specialisations shift as investment moves. Use this to choose where to send your first ten enquiries. Do not use it to skip a step.
What we have and have not done: our case studies all run the other way — Turkish brands entering Poland. In this direction we have the expertise and an office in İzmir, and no client story to point at yet.
Tell us the product and we will tell you where we would start and what we would ask.
Denizli is the region built around home textiles — towels, bathrobes and bed linen — and its export documentation habits reflect a long European trade history. It is where to start, not a guarantee about any individual factory.
No. A region is a starting point, not a credential — there are excellent factories outside their region’s specialism and poor ones inside it. Verify the individual supplier, then commission an inspection.
A factory quoting outside its specialism is usually subcontracting, which adds a margin and hides who actually makes the goods. The quotation comes back polite rather than competitive, and you conclude wrongly that Türkiye is expensive.
